The Sikh Sports Association (SSA) Leicestershire was established in 2019 with the goal of nurturing athletic pursuits within the Sikh community residing in Leicester and Leicestershire.
Since its inception, the SSA has been steadfast in its commitment to promoting sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy living among its members.

The inaugural event held in August 2019 at the esteemed Saffron Lane Stadium marked the beginning of an exciting journey, showcasing a diverse range of sports and activities including Kabaddi, football, athletics, martial arts, Gatka, and yoga.
This vibrant gathering served as a testament to the community's passion for sports and its collective spirit of unity.
However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges, resulting in a temporary halt to the association's activities until August 2023.
Undeterred by adversity, the SSA rebounded with resilience, hosting another successful event that reignited the enthusiasm and energy of its members.
In December 2023, the community came together once again to celebrate its achievements and honour sporting luminaries from the 1970s during an annual dinner held at a local hotel.
This heart warming occasion not only recognized past contributions but also acted as a spring board to inspire current and future generations to continue striving for excellence in sports.
The SSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 11th May 2024, saw the appointment of the committee that oversaw the events for 2024 to May 2025.

The next sports festival was held on 24th August 2024 and proved to be a great success despite it raining for most of the day.
As the SSA looks ahead to the upcoming sports programme scheduled for the 31st August 2025, there is a sense of anticipation and excitement in the air.
Building upon the momentum of previous years, the aim is to surpass previous milestones and create an even more memorable and impactful event.
